- He was born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1954. After attending Fukuoka Prefectural Fukuoka High School, he went on to earn a degree from the Scriptwriting Course of Nihon University’s College of Art, Department of Cinema. While in school, he studied under distinguished figures, such as Fumio Ishimori and Kan Saji. Around 1981, he began focusing in earnest on his career as a screenwriter for film and television. His major credits in film include NAGURIMONO (Nagurimono: The Fighter, 2005), Hatsuyuki no Koi (Virgin Snow, 2007), and JK Ninja Girls (2017). His credits in television include Kodomo ga Miterudesho! (Kids Are Watching!, 1985, TBS), Papa wa Newcaster (Papa Is a Newscaster, 1987, TBS), Kimi no Hitomi ni Koi Shiteru! (Can’t Take My Eyes off You!, 1989, Fuji TV), Aitai Toki ni Anata wa Inai... (You’re Not Here When I Need You..., 1991, Fuji TV), Stewardess Keiji (Stewardess Detective, 1997–2006, Fuji TV), Kamaitachi no Yoru (Banshee’s Last Cry, 2002, TBS), Kuitan (The Gourmet Detective, 2006, NTV), and B-men Joshi (B-Sided Woman, 2020, Fuji TV). He also authored novels, including Love Call, Minikui Ahiru no Ko to Yobaretai (I Want to Be Called the Ugly Duckling), and Tsuioku Eiga-kan: Theatre Akanebashi no Kiseki (Reminiscence Movie Theater: The Miracle of Theatre Akanebashi).
