- He was born in Nagano Prefecture in 1950. Following graduation from the University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Letters, he joined NHK, where he was assigned to the Takamatsu station and then the Drama Division of the Program Production Department. After working as a member of the directing team for the 1987 NHK Taiga historical drama Dokuganryū Masamune (One-Eyed Dragon Masamune), he was stationed in Los Angeles as a correspondent for the General Bureau for the Americas. He later returned to Japan and served as a producer and executive producer for NHK’s morning drama series Karin. He subsequently served as head of the Drama Program Production Department and executive producer of NHK General Broadcasting Bureau, before becoming senior executive producer at NHK Enterprises.
