He was born in Hyogo Prefecture in 1929. He graduated from Kansai University. While still a university student, he gained recognition as a contributing author, focusing largely on erotic novels. Following graduation, he studied under scriptwriter Yasutarō Yagi and made his debut as a screenwriter with Mama no Nikki (Mama’s Diary, 1954). The film was co-written with Tsutomu Kitamura, produced by Tokyo Eiga, and distributed by Toho. After signing with Nikkatsu in 1955, he moved to Toei in 1959, where he established a great reputation for his gangster films. After going freelance in the 1970s, he worked on Nikkatsu Roman Porno films, which defined the era during the decline of the film industry. He also expanded into television, where he left an extensive body of work. He also wrote scripts for television; his credits include Tokubetsu Kidō Sōsatai (Special Mobile Investigation Unit, 1961–1977, NET [now TV Asahi]) and Aru Yūki no Kiroku (Record of Courage, 1966–1967, NET [now TV Asahi]), which won the Encouragement Prize at the Art Festival. Other notable works include Key Hunter (1968–1973, TBS), Wild 7 (1972–1973, NTV), Daikūkō (The Big Airport, 1978–1980, Fuji TV), and Tantei Monogatari (Detective Story, 1979–1980, NTV). Additionally, he penned many two-hour dramas. He died in 2001 at the age of 72.
