- It is a TV drama created and written by Kobo Abe, who is known as a writer. It is a mystery story inspired by an actual case where a union member was murdered by an organized crime group during the Miike Struggle, which had become a large social issue at the time. Hiroshi Akutagawa, the leading actor, played the roles of three characters. It won the 1960 ACA National Arts Festival Encouragement Award. Later, in 1962, the film Otoshiana was created based on Rengoku, directed by Hiroshi Teshigahara and written by Kobo Abe.
