Overview
This TV drama stars Tetsuo Ishidate, who won the leading role during his days at the Haiyuza Theatre Company. He later garnered popularity in productions such as Papa to yobanaide and Mizumore Kosuke. A story set in a fishing village revolves around a youth played by Ishidate and the experiences he has in one summer—falling in love, issues around a further education, etc. He falls in love with a woman, played by Jitsuko Yoshimura, who reciprocates the feeling. After co-starring in Natsu, Ishidate and Yoshimura got married in real life (later divorced). The show won the 18th ACA National Arts Festival Encouragement Award (1963). Shiro Kawai failed a university entrance exam and is currently studying to try again. He is the second son of Shotaro and Shige who run a liquor store in a small fishing town. His older brother Ichiro gave up on going to university and is now working as a supermarket manager. Ichiro wants his younger brother Shiro to fulfill the dream he could not and go to university. However, Shiro likes tinkering with machines than studying. Shiro is fond of Mitsuko Tamura, a classmate from his high school days who helps out at his parents’ shop.
