Despite these difficulties, the siblings keep moving forward vigorously... The theme song “Wakamonotachi” by the Broadside Four became a great hit. Initially, the series suffered from a low audience rating, but it garnered a higher audience rating and popularity with each episode. Broadcast of Episode 33: “Sayonara,” which depicted discrimination against Korean residents in Japan, was canceled due to the occurrence of the Heishintei Incident (an incident in 1966 where a fishing boat from North Korea secretly entered Japanese waters seeking asylum). All episodes, including the canceled Episode 33, were released as a DVD box set by Pony Canyon on October 15, 2008 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Fuji TV. A film adaptation was developed after the TV series ended, and a remake titled Wakamonotachi 2014 was released in 2014. The cast included Satoshi Tsumabuki, Eita, Hikari Mitsushima, and Tasuku Emoto.
