- Won the ACA National Arts Festival Excellence Award. Nominated for the Minister of Education Award for Fine Arts. Kosaku and Sawa are an old couple that repatriated from Sakhalin. They have made it their life’s work to create a map of Maoka (Kholmsk), a town where they lived for around two decades before the war. This past decade, they have gone round visiting acquaintances to gather memories of the town. They visit an acquaintance who lives in Otaru but learn that he has already passed away. They talk with his daughter, Yuka. After getting back to their hotel, Kosaku and Sawa realize they have left their map at Yuka’s place. They visit her again but are unable to find the map. Yuka finds the map just before going on a date with her boyfriend and tries to find the old couple. While looking for them, Yuka realizes that the map is not of Maoka but another town. The old couple’s memory has become hazy; they have confused Maoka with the town to which they repatriated in mainland Japan. Yuka locates the couple and returns the map. She has no choice but to tell them the truth, that the map is not one of Maoka. Kosaku and Sawa are at loss what to do. Then, a ship bound for Sakhalin enters port before them...
