Overview
Aired in two parts, totaling six episodes, as part of the Toshio Kamata series in the NHK’s Saturday Drama slot. A transporter and a salesman, two men with jobs that involve traveling all over Japan. The two meet in Hokkaido and go on to combine their strengths to solve problems that face the people they meet in various destinations. Their friendship becomes deeper every time they solve a problem. It is a domestic drama with a comedy touch and also a story about the two men, who each have family issues, reflecting on themselves and their families. The show was created in the style of road movie where each episode is set in a different location in Japan: Hokkaido, Shimane, Okinawa, Miyagi, Yamagata, Fukushima, Shizuoka, Yamanashi, and Kochi. The story takes place in Hokkaido in mid-winter. Shohei Taguchi is a school textbook salesman. His rental car breaks down, and he does not know what to do. Then a high-end imported car passes by. Driving the car is Junzo Kihara, a transporter who is transporting the car for a client. Kihara gives Taguchi a ride, and this marks the beginning of the two men’s journey. Actually, it is a three-person journey, as Kihara has a woman in flashy clothes—it seems like she has some problems herself—on board too. They travel for a while, but the talkative Taguchi keeps talking non stop. Kihara gets angry and kicks Taguchi out of the car...
