- Overview
- It is a fantastical comedy series revolving around events that occur in a port town movie theater. Shinichi Ichikawa won the New Artist Award of the Minister of Education Award for Fine Arts for the series’ script. The story takes place in Togawa fishing port in Choshi City, Chiba. Rokuro Saruta reads a letter from his father, Manzo: “I leave the management of the Minato Cinema entirely to you. I’m a projectionist, and I’ll return to help you.” Rokuro quits his job as a fishing boat engineer, which he has done for 10 years, and he leaves his life on sea behind. As Rokuro has always wanted to become the manager of Minato Cinema, he returns in a euphoric mood. But Manzo coldly appoints Rokuro as the projectionist, not the manager. But Rokuro is an exceptional visionary and daydreamer. He has a habit of assimilating himself with the protagonists and heroes on screen and then getting carried away by himself... Each episode features music and famous scenes from classic films such as Apocalypse Now, Kagemusha, The Third Man, Virus, Casablanca, and Purple Noon, as well as music and scenes inspired by those films.
