- Overview
- Of all the TV dramas directed by Yasuo Tsuruhashi and starring Ruriko Asaoka, Masho revolves around the most shocking and heavy theme. Shunsaku Ikehata and Masao Yajima did the screenplay. The leading character is a lesbian who is in death row for murdering her girlfriend and eating part of the victim’s corpse. In addition to this setting, Masho is full of scenes that challenge the limits of television, including lesbian relationship, masturbation, and execution by hanging. Asaoka played the challenging role with all her might. In the execution scene, Asaoka put on a safety belt and was actually dropped down the hole with a noose around her neck. The woman is in a prison cell is a death-row convict. She used to teach doll making. She murdered her girlfriend, chopped up the body, and ate part of it. The woman’s lover, a painter, encourages her to file a petition for a retrial, but she refuses. She also complains about the bad prison food and says she wants to eat a steak. She tells the pastor who regularly visits the prison that she is a model inmate, which is a lie. On the other hand, she feels affinity for the seagulls that fly to her cell and gets restless when they do not come for a while. Meanwhile, the day of her execution draws closer...
