Overview
An urban love story revolving around the intertwining relationships between eight men and women who have come to New York for various reasons. It ran for 11 episodes and aired on the Saturday Theater slot. The entire series was filmed in New York, and most of the episodes are named after a specific location in the city. Its trendy, urban touch reflected the bubble economy of Japan at the time, and the series captured the hearts of many viewers. It stars Masakazu Tamura, who amply exhibits his charm in the series; his handsome looks lend persuasiveness to the somewhat abrupt twists in the story. The theme song “Riverside Hotel” by Yosui Inoue was a great hit, too. Masayuki Tajima is an elite company employee. However, he gets into a romantic relationship with Ritsuko Seo, the wife of his boss; as a result, he is eliminated from his elite career path and quits his job. Later, Tajima moves to New York and opens a small bar for Japanese customers. One day, he comes across a woman named Sayaka Seo in town. Sayaka is Ritsuko Seo’s daughter, but Tajima does not know this. Meanwhile, Satomi Aikawa, who works for a securities firm on Wall Street, receives a visit from her cousin Akiko Chino. Akiko’s engagement has been broken off, and she has come to New York as if to run away from Japan.
