- Overview
- One of the most famous trendy TV series created between the late 1980s to early 1990s, around the time of the bubble economy. It is a slightly painful love story revolving around women’s friendship and love. The series garnered popularity for starring Atsuko Asano and Yuko Asano, who were known as the “Asano Duo.” Their lifestyle in the series became an object of admiration for young women at the time. Since the series achieved a higher-than-expected audience rating, four drama specials were later created. Asako Ikeuchi (Atsuko Asano) is a beautiful stylist who is single. She is 29. One day, her best friend Natsuko Hayakawa (Yuko Asano)—the two grew up together from kindergarten to college—turns up at her apartment. Natsuko has found out that her husband Keisuke was having an affair. And his mistress claims that she is pregnant. Asako meets the woman and discovers that she is actually not pregnant. She tells this to Keisuke, but he asks her to look after Natsuko for a bit longer. Asako cannot turn down Keisuke’s request. Asako and Keisuke in fact used to be lovers. And, Natsuko took Keisuke from Asako. Meanwhile, Natsuko flirts with Shuji Ninomiya, an editor whom Asako knows, and this makes Asako angry. The friendship between two women, Asako and Natsuko, hits a rough patch...
