- A Japanese orphan left behind in China returns to Japan to meet the man whom she believes is her biological father. However, it turns out that her father is a different man. Kikyo depicts the painful emotions of the perplexed protagonist and the man who is mistaken for her father. It stars Etsuko Ichihara. The script was written by Nobuo Yamada. It was directed by Azuma Morisaki, a film director known as a master of comedy. It aired on the Yomiuri Television’s Thursday Golden Drama slot, which featured numerous famous TV dramas, especially those centered around human emotions. Won the Best Award in the JBA Awards. Keiei Oh is a Japanese orphan who was left behind in China. A as result of searching for her blood relatives, she finds out that a man named Shigeru Sato, who runs a small take-out store in Shitaya, is her father. She returns to Japan along with her daughter. Shigeru’s niece has been counting on getting the land owned by Shigeru, who lives alone; she therefore feels distaste for Kiyoko who has returned to Japan. Shigeru is happy to live with Kiyoko, but he has doubts because she resembles neither him nor his late wife. Then, one day, they learn that Keiei is not Shigeru’s daughter but the daughter of a wealthy individual named Noriko Sato. Keiei and her daughter move to Noriko Sato’s mansion in Seijo, but...
