The Consortium for the Promotion of Broadcast Script Archives in Japan will ensure the protection of personal information provided by users in the operation of the Digital Script Archives website and will handle such information with utmost care in compliance with the laws and regulations concerning the protection of personal information and in line with the following policy.

Personal information means information which can identify an individual user when used alone or with other relevant data, including the user’s name, date of birth, phone number, e-mail address, postal address, affiliated institution and other information provided by the user.
[Acquisition of Personal Information]
The Consortium will acquire personal information relating to users, as described below.
- A. We ask users to provide their name, affiliated institution and other information in the Usage Questionnaire form.
- B. We ask users to provide their name, e-mail address, phone number, inquiry details and other information when contacting the Consortium for questions or inquiries.
- C. We may ask users to provide their name, e-mail address, phone number and other information when applying for events, as needed.
- D. Our system automatically collects Internet domain names, IP addresses, access logs and other data concerning visitors to our website.
[The Purpose of Use of Personal Information]
The Consortium will use personal information for the purposes of:
- ・responding to requests for and inquiries about digital scripts and contacting user
- ・notifying users of the Consortium’s events, carrying out questionnaire surveys, and distributing direct mails, email newsletters and other information, and
- ・performing statistical analysis for service improvement, planning new services and conducting research and development
[Limitations on the Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties]
The Consortium will not provide any personal information it handles to a third party without the prior consent of the user, unless:
- ・the provision of such personal information is required by law
- ・the provision of such personal information is necessary to protect people’s lives, bodies or property and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the user
- ・it is necessary for the Consortium to cooperate with a national institution or a local public entity or their agent in performing administrative processes as required by law, and obtaining the consent of the user could cause problems in the performance of such processes, and
- ・the provision of such personal information is otherwise permitted by law.
[Management of Personal Information]
The Consortium will take necessary and appropriate measures to prevent divulgation or loss of, or damage to the personal information collected and ensure safe management of personal information. [Disclosure of Personal Information and Other Requests]
A user may submit a request to the Consortium for notification or disclosure of the purpose of use of personal information relating to the user and retained by the Consortium, or for correction, addition, deletion or suspension of use of such personal information, either in writing or by e-mail addressed to the Consortium’s bureau. In such case, the Consortium may ask the requester to provide necessary documents to identify the requester as the user whose personal information is concerned in the request.
[The handling of cookies]
This Site uses Google Analytics provided by Google to better understand its usage and enhance its operation. To collect data, Google Analytics uses cookies (which are text files saved on a user’s device). Data is gathered anonymously and unable to identify individuals. The Consortium receives the results of analysis concerning users’ browsing history data, collected by Google with the use of cookies set by the Consortium or Google. The Consortium may use these results to understand the site usage and offer better service.
