- He was a film director, scriptwriter, and author. As a director, he worked on numerous television productions, including Gendai Fūfu Jijō (Modern Couples’ Affairs, 1984–1985, Kansai TV), Fūfu no Kioku (Memories of a Married Couple, 1985, TBS), Nishikawa Helen Monogatari...Shiroji ni akaku...(The Story of Helen Nishikawa...Red on White..., 1986, Kansai TV), Jealousy (1987, Kansai TV), Akashiya Sanma Satsujin Jiken (The Sanma Akashiya Murder Case, 1989, Fuji TV), Double Woman Baby, (1990, NTV), Scandal wo Oe! (Chase the Scandal!, 1991, TBS), Shinsetsu 3-oku-en Jiken (New Theory—300 Million Yen Robbery, 1991, Fuji TV), Kane no Sensō (The Money War, 1991, Fuji TV), Eiga Mitaina Satsujin (Murder Like a Movie, 1995, ABC), Kurenai (Crimson, 1998, Yomiuri TV), Game no Tatsujin (Master of the Game, 1999, NHK), Onmyōji (2001, NHK), and Hikari Idaku Tomo yo (A Friend Embracing the Light, 2006, Tokai TV). In addition, he scripted many of his own directorial works, as well as serving as a project developer and producer for many productions. He also directed films such as Arigatō (Thank You) and The Road in 1996, as well as Kiss in the Dark and Single Blue in 1999.
