Ichikawa Kon

- He was born in Mie Prefecture in 1915. He was a film director. His wife was the scriptwriter Natto Wada. (She died in 1983.) He was one of the few who successfully transitioned from animator to live-action filmmaker. Known for his distinctive visual style, he left behind a diverse body of acclaimed films, ranging from popular entertainment to documentaries. In television, he produced and directed many programs, alongside a vast number of commercials. His television period drama Kogarashi Monjirō (1972–1973, Fuji TV), starring Nakamura Atsuo, was a massive hit. It was broadcast as part of the Kon Ichikawa Gekijō (Kon Ichikawa Theater) series. He often co-wrote scripts and used the pen name of Kurisutei when co-writing with his wife. Writing under the pseudonym Kurisutei, his television credits include Koibito (Lovers), 1959, NTV), Ashi ni Sawatta Onna (The Woman Who Touched a Leg) (1960, NTV), and Tange Sazen (1974, Yomiuri TV). Beyond his work with his wife, his co-writing credits include Shinjitsu Ichiro (The Path of Truth, 1993, TV Tokyo) and Sono Kido wo Totte (Through That Gate, 1995, NHK). He died in February 2008 at the age of 92.
