Yokomitsu Akira

He was born in Sapporo City, Hokkaido, in 1930. After working as a corporate employee, he began his acting career with the NHK Sapporo Broadcasting Theater Company. He later transitioned to writing, providing numerous radio scripts that earned him a wide array of awards. After relocating to Tokyo, he pivoted to television scripts. Uozumi Shō,i Meichū (Second Lieutenant Uozumi: Direct Hit, NHK, 1963) won the Prix Italia. His prolific scriptwriting spanned a wide range of genres and networks, encompassing daytime serials, the TBS Nichiyō Gekijō (Sunday Theater), period dramas such as the Hissatsu series, and two-hour drama specials. Notable credits include, Ōgon-kyo (Golden Gorge, original story by Saburo Shiroyama, 1962, NHK), Kurobe no Taiyō (The Sun of Kurobe, original story by Shoji Kimoto, 1969, NTV), Oranda Oine (1970, TBS), Tsukushinbo (original story by Kobako Hanato, 1977, Tokai TV), Moichido Haru (Spring Once Again, 1981, TBS), Tanin Kazoku (Family with Strangers, 1982, TV Asahi), Hyōryū Kazoku (Drifting Family, 1983, Tokai TV), Furin no Seikyūsyo (A Bill for the Affair, 1987, TV Tokyo), and Kimi no Na wa (What’s Your Name?, original story by Kazuo Kikuta, 1991–1992, NHK). He died in 2001 at the age of 71.
