- Overview
- A media critiquing drama created by Taichi Yamada as a sequel to Mayonaka no Aisatsu (1974), which takes place in a radio station Nagata, a director at Toyo TV, is emotionally attached to the 90-minute TV drama Natsukashiki Umi no Uta (a story set in Meiji-era Okinawa). However, following the death of the president of a country in a plane accident, the TV station decides to broadcast a special news program instead of the drama. All the staff are disappointed, but especially rookie actress Hisae Saeki, who managed to win her role with a lot of effort, is painfully upset by it. Unable to stand by and watch, the assistant director Shimozawa steals the tape of the special news program, which leads to a chaotic situation. With the one-time nature of TV programs in mind, the story brings the scheduling conflict between drama and news to a peaceful end with an expression of love for drama. The detailed depiction of the programming and production teams and the cast transforms this story of a TV station into a drama full of reality.
