Overview
The series ran in three seasons on the Drama Ningen Moyo slot. The story is set in a hot spring town in the Sanin region and revolves around the diary of Yumechiyo, a woman who runs a geisha staffing agency and suffers from leukemia due to prenatal exposure to radiation in Hiroshima, portraying the lives of various individuals who come and go around her. It stars Sayuri Yoshinaga, who also played the leading character in the film adaptation directed by Kirio Urayama and released in 1985. Yumechiyo Nikki: Yumechiyo runs a geisha staffing agency in a rural hot spring town in the Sanin region. She contracts leukemia due to prenatal exposure to radiation in Hiroshima and is told she has only three more years to live. One day, on her way back from a hospital in Kobe, she comes across a police detective named Yamane. Yamane says that he is tracking a former geisha of Haruya called Ichikoma on suspicion of murder. Zoku Yumechiyo Nikki: While on a train on the Sanin Line on her way back from a hospital in Kobe, Yumechiyo meets a girl named Toshiko who has run away from home. Toshiko tells Yumechiyo that she has come to look for someone she loves. Yumechiyo promises to help her. Shin Yumechiyo Nikki: Yumechiyo meets Takao, a former boxer who has lost his memory. Through his interaction with Yumechiyo, Takao is attracted by her kindness and gradually regains his memory. Takao eventually returns to the boxing ring. Meanwhile, those around Yumechiyo each face a turning point.
