Overview
It is a TV drama adaptation of Sembazuru yo Ozora e, which won the Excellence Award in the 3rd Yomiuri Golden Scenario Awards. The soul of a child who went missing because of the atomic bombing appears before a boy in present times to look for their mother. Through this, the TV drama depicts the sorrows of Hiroshima’s atomic bomb victims. It occupies a special place among the many TV dramas that address the atomic bombing. Its significance is all the more pronounced given the recent concerns expressed about the fading of war memories. Produced by Mifune Productions and Yomiuri Television. A theatrical adaptation was performed in Yokohama by the Fonte theatrical company in 2009. For his 10th birthday, Makoto is scheduled to go to Hiroshima to watch a baseball game with his mother Michiko. However, he gets a sudden fever. Makoto opens his eyes in a state of hazy consciousness; he sees someone sitting at his desk. The boy’s name is Hiroshi. He says he was born exactly 39 years ago today. More astonishingly, Hiroshi says that he went missing due to the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima and that his soul has appeared in Makoto’s time. Together with Makoto, Hiroshi goes to look for his mother who is supposed to be still alive...
