The date and place of his birth are not known. He was a scriptwriter who was active from the dawn of Japanese television drama. His original television scripts include Ai no Hajimaru Toki (When Love Begins, 1973, Fuji TV), Shiroi Kyōfu (White Terror, 1975, Fuji TV), Hana Urushi (Flower Lacquer, 1977, Fuji TV), Niizuma ni Sasageru Uta (A Song for the Bride, 1978, Fuji TV), Esashi no Onna (A Woman in Esashi, 1980, Tokai TV), and Full-moon Fūfu Kikiippatsu (Full-Moon Couple: A Close Call, 1983, Kansai TV). He was also a prolific adapter of literary works, translating novels by Keita Genji’s Ashita wa Nichiyōbi (Tomorrow is Sunday, 1956–1957, NTV) and Hope-san (Mr. Hope, 1960, Fuji TV), Seichō Matsumoto’s Shippai (The Failure, 1959, Fuji TV), Fumio Niwa’s Nichinichi no Haishin (Daily Betrayal, 1960, Fuji TV), Kazuo Funahashi’s Marippe Sensei (Teacher Marippe, 1958–1959, NTV), Shintaro Ishihara’s Seishun to wa Nanda (What Is Youth?, 1965–1966, NTV), and Zenzō Matsuyama’s Midareru (Yearning, based on the novel, 1977, TBS).
